3) "Girl Scouts Zone"(Bldg A-B) - Celebrating 100 years of scouting, Girl Scouts Heart of Central California worked with Randy Roberts, deputy director of the Crocker Art Museum, and museum consultant Rachel Tooker to create an interactive exhibit that shows how Girl Scouts discover, connect and take action to make the world a better place.

Doodle on the world's largest Etch-a-Sketch and pretend that you live in a giant dollhouse. Build something with Legos and other construction toys. Visit the stuffed animal Toytopia Zoo. Marvel at colorful peacocks, along with a charm of finches, a colony of canaries, along with kookaburra, amazons, curassow and other "singers." Experts will be on hand to talk about the feathered flock. And look for exotic plants, many of which were propagated and nurtured in the State Fair's
Landscape Yard: vanilla orchid, sugar cane, cocoa, coffee, banana, papaya and pineapple. Free California poppy-seed packs will be given away while supplies last.

6) "Wet 'n' Wild" (Bldg B)- The California Department of Water Resources and California Department of Fish and Game team up on a water and wildlife exhibit designed to educate the public about native animals and how water impacts their habitats. See raccoon, bobcat, bald eagle, rattlesnake and amphibians in enclosures similar to their native habitats. Watch educational and entertaining presentations with a beaver, turkey vulture, North American porcupine, desert tortoise and hawk at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. daily.

7) "We Stand on Their Shoulders"(Bldg A) - Sacramento State professor emeritus Felicenne Ramey created a documentary-style exhibit in which photographs of elderly African-American men and women are paired with their musings on life. 8) " The Flying Marbellos?& Friends" (Expo Center, Bldg 7) - Vallejo dentist and artist Victor Chaney creates wacky and hypnotic kinetic sculptures, including the circus-themed "The Flying Marbellos" and "H2-Opus," a musical fountain. See six of his unique works in the Fine Art building.

Tips On How To Plan A Summer Snorkel Visit To Southern California

By: stes22jhmc

When looking for a mask the following elements should be considered. First and foremost consider whether prescription lenses are needed. Prescription lenses will allow a diver that wears glasses or contacts to see well underwater. The other factors that need to be taken into account are the comfort level of the seal, the nose pocket, and the strap. Also, a good mask will need to have high quality and durable fasteners.
The second piece of scuba gear that a serious diver should consider purchasing is for the feet, a good pair of booties. Booties are similar to water socks in that they protect a person's feet from the rocks, fish, and sharp surfaces in the water. Booties are like boots for the water and they have a zipper down the side of the shoe. They can also protect a diver's feet from blisters.
The third piece that every diver should own is actually two items: swim fins. Swim fins will need to be measured for a particular diver's foot so they can be personalized for use.
Lastly, divers should consider buying their own scuba weights and snorkels. Not only will these pieces of scuba gear be used during every dive, but they are items that need personalization for specific people.
Once a diver has the five basic pieces of scuba gear, they will need proper, on-going care and maintenance. For some pieces of gear proper care means rinsing in warm water after each use, but for other pieces of equipment good care may mean washing with a mild detergent and warm water. Proper care of gear will ensure that scuba equipment will be long-lasting and durable.
The rest of the gear that is needed for a dive can be rented at dive shops and specialty stores that are located near the water. But not all divers will rent the other pieces of equipment that are needed for a dive. Some divers will choose to purchase all of the pieces of scuba gear that are needed for an underwater diving adventure.
Scuba gear is necessary to enjoy the mystical beauty of an underwater world. The proper gear will not only keep a diver safe, but it will also allow a diver to have the best diving experience possible and can keep anyone comfortable and at ease during an underwater adventure.
Everyone from amateur to advanced divers use the basic pieces of scuba gear. These basic pieces are necessary for a fun and safe dive. Most experts agree that there are five items every diver needs to purchase if they are serious about diving, even if they are just beginning their certification. While these items can be rented, it is often unhygienic and inconvenient to do so.
The first of these five items is the scuba mask. It is arguably the most important piece of gear. A mask allows a diver to see clearly underwater. It also increases a diver's field of vision, which creates a large area of space that is clear and easy.

Chicago Tribune suspends use of Journatic content

(AP) ? The Chicago Tribune has suspended its use of local news provider Journatic after discovering plagiarized and fabricated material in one of its stories, an announcement that was quickly followed by the resignation Saturday of one of the news service's senior staffers.

Journatic's head of editorial, Mike Fourcher, said on his blog that he had resigned because of disagreements with senior staff over "ethical and management issues."

The Chicago-based company has come under scrutiny since the public radio program "This American Life" reported two weeks ago that Journatic was using low-paid writers overseas to produce items under fake bylines that were published in print and online by several major U.S. newspapers.

The issue has sparked discussion throughout the news industry, which is struggling to cut costs while still trying to serve local markets, sometimes by outsourcing specialized content.

Journatic, which began operations in 2006, had produced content for the Tribune's suburban TribLocal publications ? 90 town websites and 22 weekly print editions.

The newspaper said in its Saturday edition that one of those stories, published earlier in the week in the Deerfield TribLocal, contained a quote lifted from a June 7 story in another local publication. It also included a fabricated quote that used information from an item on Patch.com, another website providing hyperlocal content.

"We deeply regret this incident and apologize to Chicago Tribune and its readers," said Journatic founder and Chief Executive Brian Timpone in a statement published by the Tribune.

Journatic did not return a phone message seeking comment Saturday.

Dozens of media outlets use Journatic content. The Chicago Tribune's parent, Tribune Co., invested an undisclosed sum in the company in April.

The newspaper's senior vice president and editor, Gerould Kern, said in a staff memo that an internal investigation begun after the revelation of false bylines is not complete.

"These are the most egregious sins in journalism," Kern said. "We do not tolerate these acts at the Chicago Tribune under any circumstances, whether from a staff member or an outside supplier like Journatic."

While the suspension was described as indefinite, Chicago Tribune Media Group President Vince Casanova told the newspaper it would work with Journatic in the interim to improve standards.

"We're not writing them off," he said.

In his blog post, Fourcher, who was also Journatic's production manager, said he had tried to address problems at the company in discussions with its founders but was thwarted. He said one of the company's shortfalls was a business model that favors quantity over quality.

"Inevitably, as you distribute reporting work to an increasingly remote team, you break traditional bonds of trust between writers and editors until they are implicitly discouraged from doing high-quality work for the sake of increasing production efficiency and making more money," Fourcher said.

"I was amazed that this ceased at $90,000. I believed it would go greater than that," Bartlett said. "Now we just have to determine where we'll put it."

Bartlett said the married couple's house is loaded with modern art, but he has lengthy had an admiration for the of European artists.

"I think there's just something about the loyalty of the western. There's principles and reliability with a western - you know they've got your returning," he said.

Wanting to do their aspect to retain some of that European history, Bartlett and McDonald made the decision several decades ago to basically "underwrite" the Calgary Stampede European Art Market. While they were outbid once many decades ago, when the Stampede poster went for a history $137,500, they have otherwise been the ones to phase up to create sure the art goes for a excellent cost.

While the other paintings have bought dangle in Bartlett's office, the Calgary Oil Team, and the Stampede reasons, this will be the first one they dangle in their own house. Bartlett said he is attracted to the irritable, environmental characteristics of the painting, done by Co European specialist Fight it out Beardsley.

Beardsley was requested by Stampede first vice-chairman Bob Thompson, who said he came up with the western concept after being motivated by philanthropist Expenses Siebens' latest present to the Stampede of aspect of the ancient OH Hacienda.

"Thinking about that, really what I desired (for this poster) was a honor to the significant western," Thompson said.

For his aspect, Beardsley said it was a excitement to be aspect of the Calgary Stampede's 100th birthday.

"It's over the top," Beardsley said. "Bob kept saying, 'I don't think you quite know what you're getting into,' and I didn't - until I got here.'"

BNG Golf Bargain: Dimmock Hill Golf Course

July 13, 2012 Updated Jul 13, 2012 at 10:24 PM EDT

Town of Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) We continue our BNG golf bargains tour with a stop at the Dimmock hill golf course.

"how are you doing? My name is Jim Gelunas I'm the Golf pro here at the Dimmock Hill Golf Course. We'll be playing the 2nd hole here for the BNG Bargains. This is typically a 140 yard shot a little uphill with a little pond off to your right. Now if you go passed that you have trouble past that so really technically a little shorter is a better play here. A little short won't hurt you. Like I said a little short ain't going to hurt you too much but then again it falls off to the right if you're too far right. So left, play left and play short.

Yeah, this, typically this hole this green all breaks to the water and goes down toward the water so typically when you're behind the hole like this it's going to be a faster downhill putt. So you have to keep that in mind when you're rolling it up there. Straight in, straight in the hole, put it in. It's a pretty straight forward par 3, stay away from the right side make your par and move onto the next hole."

In our area we see business closings all of the time and when I look closely into why the business closes it is usually because the company did not make changes when they needed, these changes should include the following:

Seacrest confirms J.Lo is leaving 'American Idol'

Getty Images

By Anna Chan

Just one day after Steven Tyler announced he was leaving "American Idol," host Ryan Seacrest has confirmed that Jennifer Lopez will also be departing the show's panel.

"Just confirmed with @JLo she's made up her mind...will leave idol. :( gonna miss her," he tweeted.

The singer made the announcement when she did an interview with "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" Friday morning.?

"I really was dreading this phone call with you," Lopez told Seacrest. "I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do that I've put kind of on hold because I love 'Idol' so much. ... I could keep just doing 'Idol' for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things and I just ... I don't know. We had an amazing run."

Seacrest offered to be her assistant to give the time to do all she wants and convince her, but it wasn't enough for the superstar.

"I just don't know if I could be there every single day, all the time, the way we've been doing the past two years. ... You know how it is!" Lopez responded, confirming to the "Idol" host that she had made up her mind to leave.?

"The time ?has come," she said.

Listen to the interview on RyanSeacrest.com.

Lopez's rep, Mark Young, also told the Associated Press that the singer would not be returning for season 12.

Fox and FremantleMedia, the production company behind "Idol," had no comment.

Several names had surfaced earlier this week as possible judges for next season, including current "Idol" mentor will.i.am, season eight runner-up Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj.

With J.Lo also leaving, do you think original judge Randy Jackson needs to stay? Or should "Idol" get a whole new panel? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

Who will you miss more: J.Lo or Steven Tyler?
