Today?s Adoption Good News comes from Julie who is a foster and adoptive mom. She talks about the hard moments they have had AND the miracles they have experienced.

?

Adoption has blessed our life in a huge, huge way! After the birth of our first son in 2009 we became licensed foster parents for our state.

Since that time we have fostered seven children ages 3 and under. We thought that adoption would come up at some point but weren?t too anxious to have any permanent newcomer. Oh, what a difference a day can make!

From the moment these little ones were in our home I did not want to let them go. However, when you sign up as a foster parent you sign up to support family reunification first. So of course that day came when I was forced to let go.

Anyone who has fostered, fell in love and handed that child back to their birth family knows that it comes with many emotions. It was hard not to be overwhelmed with that grief time and time again.

In early 2011 a little boy just over a year old showed up at our house in the afternoon. He was chubby, sleeping and oblivious to the change that had just happened in his life. The next year was full of ups and downs but also full of great joy and happiness. On April 2nd of this year we finalized Kyson?s adoption and later that week he joined our FOREVER family ? now six strong ? in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

We are grateful to have an open adoption with his birth family. We cannot imagine our lives any different and are so blessed with the path that foster care has taken us on ?especially as we are now fostering Kyson?s biological baby brother.

Did you miss?last week?s Good News? It?s an adoptive mom giving thanks for the child she adopted 13 years ago during an F5 tornado.
